Securing Information among Trading Partners: The role of Non-Technical Measures
The need for information in enhancing the flow of material and funds among trading partners is of great importance to organisations. However, securing this information is challenging as a result of the increasing extent with which information is being shared among the trading organisations. The serious consequences of information theft/loss/disruption necessitates the implementation of measures that provide effective information security. An exploratory qualitative case study was adopted where participants were drawn from three different organisations which are part of an active trading network. The study revealed that technical measures only are not enough for information security among trading partners. Some non technical measures that could help in the protection and management of the information being used and shared among trading partners are presented here.
